if you tap on the glass the sharks might look at you
Hello from home!
I write to you with a football game on in the background, chili on the stove and a (albeit artisanal) pumpkin spice candle burning. It’s 80 degrees, I’m home for 72 hours and my soul just needs to pretend that it’s already fall.
The second North American leg of the Tigers Blood tour was a great success! I’m endlessly grateful to everyone who worked hard to make it happen, every band/artist who supported us and of course, to anyone who bought a ticket and came out to the shows. There’s so much to say about the experience of touring this album and yet here and now I’m coming up a little speechless. I’m filled with gratitude and I’ve just never enjoyed playing my songs live more than I have this year, with this group of people, for these crowds. It’s been an absolute dream.
I spent the week after tour in New York City with Kevin and Ernie. We walked around the West Village and the Meatpacking District, popping into shops and restaurants like we live there. It was really nice. We took the ferry to Red Hook late last week to see our dear friend Ian LC Swordy’s sculpture show. It was amazing and it’ll be up for a bit longer, I highly recommend going to check it out.
That’s really about it! I’m a woman of few words right now. I don’t feel fried per se, I’d describe myself as a hearty pot of soup just simmering on the stove. Quiet, contemplative, thoughtfully in process, changing with circumstance slowly and ideally for the better. In other words, I am factually exhausted but in a good way.
Tomorrow I head to Nashville for the Americana Awards and Fest. I’m excited to see all my people and play a few shows. That includes (but is not limited to) my dear friend MJ Lenderman who’s new album Manning Fireworks is making its rounds and working its magic. I’m really excited for Jake, he deserves every ounce of praise and glory coming his way right now. If you’re reading this I would guess that you’re likely already obsessed. If you haven’t heard it yet, consider playing the whole thing through today. I know this is a happy accident but I really think its so perfect for the changing season.
That’s it! We’re playing Riot Fest in Chicago next weekend & then I’m off to New York to catch both Babies reunion shows!!
I’ll leave you with a few photos from the last few weeks.
XOXO
KC
