Hello everyone!!!!
I am so sorry for my absence (yes I do plan to start every entry with an apology for my slowness) - I’ve been living my life, playing my shows and just generally doing my best to adjust my dial from calm to chaos.
Tour has been an unbelievable dream come true. I think it’s my favorite headline tour I’ve ever done as far as the shows go. You’ve been showing up, singing along, emitting PURE JOY and warmth and excitement and I’ve been absorbing it all like a sponge. I can’t thank you enough for buying a ticket and being a part of it.
I have a complicated history with performing. When I was 15 and playing in my first band the shows were all that mattered to me. As I got into my 20s, I became a little more reserved and self-conscious and wary of any growth in my audience, scared of failing, scared of disappointing - I kept the performances small and shy and really just tried to get the show over with quickly. I really feel in my 30s, post-sobriety, post-Saint Cloud - performing is one of my favorite parts of my job. I take it really seriously and I enjoy it deeply. I was a dancer growing up and moving around on stage, singing loudly and vigorously, looking into your eyes as you sing the songs back to me - it feels so powerful! I get so much out of it. I’m extremely grateful to get to do this show every night & extremely grateful that you’ve all been showing up for it.
What else can I tell you? I’ve been listening to the new Jessica Pratt on repeat. I’m listening to it right now as I type to you. I’ve also been blasting TTPD as I work out. “But Daddy I Love Him” … I want to cover it? Speaking of covers! My amazing band & I have been doing a new Lucinda cover every few shows. It’s basically my biggest dream realized & I’m stoked. Speaking of Lucinda! She came out & same “Abandoned” with Jake Lenderman & I at the Ryman a few weeks back. Speaking of the Ryman! Wynonna Judd also came out & sang “Love Is Alive” with us. I’m jumping all over the place but man, what a wild ride it’s been.
I’m told that a lot of you have reached out about the playlist of songs that play in the house at my shows. First off - thank you for noticing!!! I spent 6 months working on it and I still add to it every so often. It’s almost 7 hours long. I’m going to make it public & link it here. My recommendation is to play it on shuffle. That’s what we do every night & it becomes a Tigers Blood radio station. Enjoy!
We have about a week of shows left before a break! Some are sold out, some are not, get tickets here.
Sending love from the great wide open,
KC
